Friends of Music has served the Charlotte community for more than 20 years by annually sponsoring four to five quality chamber music concerts with professional musicians from around the country.  In addition, the organization supports the Music Department at Queens and provides educational outreach to other schools and children in our community.

  • St. John's Episcopal Church

Melissa was absolutely delighted and amazed to be the 2003-2004 and 2004-2005 President of the Episcopal Church Women, ECW, at St. John's Episcopal Church.   Plan to visit the annual Bake and Craft Sale in November and if you need a last minute gift, the ECW has wonderful cookbooks for sale!  She has volunteered as an usher and nursery worker and served on the Adult Education Committee from 2003 until 2005.

St. John's Episcopal Church is located at 1623 Carmel Road and can be reached at 704.366.3034.

  • National Marrow Donor Program

The National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP) is a nonprofit organization that facilitates life-saving blood stem cell transplants for patients who do not have a donor in their family. We provide the products and services that bring patients and donors together through life-saving technology. We manage the world's largest registry of volunteer stem cell donors and cord blood units. We are also working to increase access to transplantation through research, advocacy, and public and professional education.

Approximately 75% of the stem cell transplants facilitated by the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP) are for patients with some form of leukemia.  Leukemia is the leading disease killer of children.

Melissa is a proud member of the NMDP and hopes that through the work of the registry a cure for leukemia can be found.
